Get Involved
Open Degree is at version 0.1. That is the best time to get involved, because the shape of the standard is still being decided in the open.
Learners
Section titled “Learners”- Search the outcomes for the concept you need, or browse the map, and jump in. You do not have to start at the beginning.
- Learn it from the node’s free resources or follow a free course, then prove it with its assessment.
- If the concept is missing, ask for it: add a stub, or open an issue naming it. The gaps you hit are the roadmap.
Educators and contributors
Section titled “Educators and contributors”- Teach from the curriculum. It is free, and always will be.
- Contribute a concept, fill a stub, write a course or an assessment, or review. Independent teachers, tutors, and creators are as welcome as institutions.
- Align outcomes to the standards you already work under, so your students’ progress travels.
Employers
Section titled “Employers”- Read the credentials to see exactly what a holder can do and how it was assessed.
- Propose or ask for the concepts real jobs require. The surest way to make a credential mean something is to help define the node it points at.
Platforms and schools
Section titled “Platforms and schools”- Import the graph. It is Markdown with YAML frontmatter, under an open license. Walk it node by node, or list its courses as ready-made paths.
- Track your learners’ progress through the graph and choose what to offer next. That part is yours; Open Degree publishes the graph and stops there.
- Issue Open Degree credentials to your learners by meeting each credential’s issuer requirements.
- DIY Degree is the first learning engine to offer Open Degree as a source. Be the next.
